Church Ministry Experience

1998-present: Co-Founder and Instructor.  FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). Directed the first FOCUS program nationwide at Benedictine College and helped train missionaries to bring the program to other campuses throughout the country.

Wrote many FOCUS Scripture studies, and continue to serve as a consultant for FOCUS and as an instructor for training FOCUS missionaries. Beginning at Benedictine College, FOCUS presently serves thousands of students on 27 campuses (1998 to present). Over the last 8 years, almost 100 young people have pursued religious vocations in part due to their involvement in FOCUS: 67 men have entered seminary and 25 women have entered religious life. Continue to serve as national consultant and instructor for FOCUS summer training.

 

1995-present:  Speaker at Catholic Conferences.  Various parishes and Catholic organizations. Regularly lecture at parishes and conferences throughout the country on topics related to Scripture and the Catholic faith (1/95 to present).

 

1995:  Missionary Catechist Formation Director. Language & Catechetical Institute. Trained missionaries for catechizing in Eastern Europe (summer 1995).

 

1994:  Diocesan Religious Education Intern.  Diocese of Rapid City, South Dakota. Assisted diocesan DRE in training catechists throughout the diocese in using the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  Also helped organize diocesan-wide catechist formation conference and led a workshop (summer 1994).

 

 

Other Professional Experience

1991-1992:  Corporate Communications Representative.  The Dow Chemical Company. Managed projects in employee, environmental and marketing communications. Experience in special events planning, marketing promotion, public speaking, media relations, personnel management and strategic goal setting.  Developed brochures and video productions. Editor of daily nation-wide company newsletter (8/91 to 11/92).
